ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a creator, a creator who primarily creates with a pencil, occasionally a stylus, sometimes a paintbrush, and rarely a keyboard and mouse. It always starts with the pencil, the necessity of my art life that can transition into anything I want it to. What you will see and come to know is my passion, my muse that has drawn me into art from a young age. It’s character creation, the thing that makes all the artwork I do, from graded assignments to doodles in my sketchbook, worthwhile. How do I do it? Where do I start? It simply starts from inspiration and continues, and ends with my imagination. My work expands past the image; it reflects the various people, aliens, creatures, superhumans, monsters, mythical icons, and robots I have seen and said out loud, “They look cool.” Movies, TV shows, video games, and comics have and always will be the main source of my creativity. This intangible collaboration with other artists makes the art you see diverse because the beauty of art is not being shackled to one surface, one utensil, one perspective. There’s always room to not only improve but also experiment. It’s relieving to say to myself my work has no borders and doesn’t all fit into a shoe box, folder, or portfolio bag.
